World's Largest Dealer- This is false advertising, another violation of Ohio Consumer Laws. Ricart isn't number 1 in size or sales. AutoNation, Inc. is the US largest and has more employees than Ricart sells cars a year. Ricart was number 1 in a category specified by Ward's Dealer Business News. The category appears to based on beauty pageant criteria, but not the world's largest or most vehicles sold. According to the total sales of Ward's top 500 & 100 dealerships, Ricart was number 67th in the US and not number 1 in the world.  Actually, even the local Germain dealership sells more cars then Ricart. Someone needs to tell them to change the billboard on Rt. 270 by Rt.33. This violates Ohio Consumer laws. While being 67th in size, Ricart is number 1 in highest F & I Dollars per average vehicle. This little figure isn't in any of their brochures?

2) Because of Size and quantity, they can offer lower prices-This is more false advertising, another violation of Ohio Consumer Laws. It conveys that because they buy more vehicles from manufacturers that they get quantity discounts. Kinda of like buying a case of pop instead of a six-pack. The reality is all manufacturers sell vehicles to dealers at the same cost. Regardless of whether you sell 12 vehicles a year or 12,000. Occasionally manufacturers offer prorated programs to dealers as a means of increasing sales. For example, Ford may go to the the 12 car dealer and say if you sell an extra Ford in December we will give $500 back and to the 12,000 car dealer, if you sell an extra 30 cars in December we will give you an extra $500 per car you sell over an above that 30. This is a dealer sales incentive for ALL dealers regardless of size that may happen once a year. There is no quantity discount as implied in Ricart advertising for the larger dealer's. Ricart can help with obtaining financing because of size, however as you may have read in the "Types of Fraud" section and the F & I dollars per vehicle, it is roulette at its finest.

3) When in need, Call the AG- Ricart hasn't been popped since Lee Fisher was in office (see Ricart Legal History). The truth is, the Ohio Attorney General delegates all automotive complaints to a mediation service run by guess who? Give up? It is delegated for mediation to AutoCap, a division of Ohio Automobile Dealers Association (a trade association). Guess who who will review your complaint at AutoCap? You guessed it, car salesman. And guess who sits on the board of this fine establishment that the AG utilizes on behalf of Ohioans? Mr. Ricart himself. Does it sound like a circus? It is! I have reviewed AG complaints about AutoCap as well. When I called them, they said they "don't deal with price issues". Later I called again and found out "they don't keep records or let the public see them". Many others have complained about their blatant ineffectiveness. Don't you the reader think it is a common sense, conflict of interest arrangement that the AG's office has made?  Hence, if you want to complain about Ricart it will be delegated to a trade association where Ricart sits on the board. I have no idea who made this hair brain arrangement. OK, so Ricart is listed in the category of "Top Campaign Contributors" to Betty Montgomery in 1997-1998 and made an even larger contribution, along with the Ohio Automobile Dealers Association, in 1996-1997. I still don't understand, heck, Ricart has more complaints on file then any egg farm?

4) If you purchase/Lease a vehicle you have 3 days to cancel the deal-Nope. That law is only if you purchase/lease and that transaction occurred in your home.

5) Low payments advertised are better?-  Low payments mean lease. You will pay dearly for those low payments. In the end the residual value is offset by the actual value. Who determines that value? The Ricart appraisers usually do, and do you think they will let fresh meat walk away if they can help it? Most people are forced to roll over the loss into a new lease. Eventually you will have to bite the bullet. That could be between $5,000 to $15,000 all because two vehicles ago you wanted "low payments." You are paying interest on the interest from a vehicle you rented? Those that can least afford it are often the ones that get hooked in. If you are not sure you've been had, check out the following links. Lease Secrets#1  Lease Secrets#2.

6) When in a jam call Channel 6 on your side- On each complaint form at the AG's office is a section where you specify, "Who have you contacted about this?" I was surprised at the number of people who contacted channel 6 investigation. Granted they hold themselves as "The Troubleshooter", let me troubleshoot this Mr. or Ms. Reader. Ricart is a major advertiser in the Dispatch, Channel 6, Channel 10, and numerous radio stations in Columbus. I have called channel 6 Troubleshooter multiple times with never any call back. I have also never seen them do a piece on Ricart despite the large volume of calls they have received about them. Ricart, because he is a large advertiser, has editorial powers with some local media. I have contacted Channel 6 and the Dispatch, prior to the web site creation, after its creation and during litigation for them to investigate or get a equal side to the picture. They weren't interested. When the story broke on this web page and Ricart played the poor victim, the write up in the dispatch was next to a Ricart ad.  How's that for some unsophisticated objectivity in reporting? In addition, factual information given to reporters by my lawyer were never included in the news. The Ricart spin doctors have editorial powers with most of the media in Columbus. The dispatch's action in this case have been noted in an article by an editor and publisher of a Law Journal. This has also been the case with crooked car dealers and the media in other states. Save your energy, do a web page instead.

7) Customer Loyalty is Important to Ricart? The  number of regular customers who had filed complaints leaves me baffled. Many are from customers who have shopped there before without any  problems. I'm not sure if it is a false sense of security that develops or its just a game of chance whether you will be scammed. I do believe that they work on a high volume principle. Get as many people in as possible, and customer loyalty is not a concern. With such a high traffic rate, sales personnel get plenty of opportunity to sharpen their skills. Organizationally, sales staff don't do the negotiating, that is left to management. Most managers are folks who were promoted from the sales staff rank. Hence, as Darwin would postulate, predatory skills are both inherited as well as taught, encouraged and supported. Those of the salesman species who evolve, get promoted to manager. I did have opportunity to speak at length with ex-Ricart sales personnel for this page and their feedback to me support the Darwinian view of Ricart salesman evolution. I am also sure that they probably have some decent sales personnel as well who are in an aversive environment that challenges character development.  The message here is don't count on customer loyalty.
